13 people joined us for a walk along the Mass Central Rail Trail to Not Your Average Joe's in the Market Basket complex. We admired nature, some broken tree stakes, a mural of native wildlife, and a pet memorial. A few people didn't stay for lunch, but a few others who didn't do the walk took their place at the table. Thanks to all 16 folks who participated!
Unfortunately, the Charles River Cleanup scheduled for Saturday, September 26 has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. Another group, Keep Massachusetts Beautiful, is having a cleanup at the exact same place on next Saturday, October 3, 10 am to noon. If you’d like to do that, please sign up HERE The Waltham Land Trust is planning to host a Charles River cleanup on Saturday, November 7, with Waltham Pride and probably the other groups who were to join us on Saturday. Celebrate Halloween with a spooktacular day on the trails! The Waltham Land Trust invites you to celebrate Halloween in the best way possible — moving through nature, in costume (if it’s safe to run in), and helping protect Waltham’s beautiful open spaces. Since 2013, our Western Greenway 5K has brought together people of all ages to enjoy 3.1 miles of gorgeous fall scenery. The course winds through Beaver Brook North Reservation and Rock Meadow, with stunning views of cattail marshes, forests, vernal pools, and open meadows.
