WALTHAM ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE OVER $29K IN GRANTS FROM FOUNDATION FOR METROWEST
Community Foundation Distributes $160,000 throughout MetroWest Region

December 14, 2009 (Natick, MA)....Foundation for MetroWest announced today that organizations throughout Waltham would receive grants totaling $29,500 as part of their 2009 grant cycle. The announcement was part of an event held today at the DeCordova Sculpture Park + Museum in Lincoln, MA to distribute $160,000 throughout the region.

Reagle Players was awarded a $5,000 grant to support their “A Little Bit of Ireland” performances. Reach Beyond Domestic Violence received a grant for $7,500 to their Community-Based Prevention and Advocacy Programs which educates communities about domestic violence and identifies resources to help survivors. Watch, Inc. received $10,000 to support the Breaking Barriers program that provides classes, hands-on exercises, and tutoring for participants to learn to speak English. The Waltham Land Trust received $7,000 to improve the existing trails and create education kiosks around the Shady’s Pond Conservation Area.

“During this time of unprecedented financial need, Foundation for MetroWest is proud to support organizations throughout the region, such as the Reagle Players and Reach Beyond Domestic Violence,” said Judith Salerno, executive director of Foundation for MetroWest. “By distributing these much needed funds we are doing our part to ensure that the MetroWest region remains vital and strong.”
