First Annual Trail Stewardship Day a Success!
Over 25 volunteers from Waltham and surrounding communities worked at four different locations on Sunday, November 5th to keep Waltham "Clean and Green." The majority of the volunteers worked at the Robert Treat Paine Estate, under the direction of Heather Cole, Education Director for Friends of Stonehurst. WLT members, Girl Scouts and Friends of Stonehurst members worked to remove invasive species from the 6 acre "historic landscape" surrounding the house. This is the area originally designed by Frederick Law Olmstead. Much progress was made and we look forward to working with the Friends of Stonehurst again in the future.
Other WLT members worked at Cedarwood Playgound and Jericho Hill to remove trash from the woods. At Smith Point, volunteers delineated the foot path and poured cement for the new sign marking the Smith Point Conservation Area.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered for your energy and enthusiam!
