Come help extend the Western Greenway!

Friends of the Western Greenway trail season starts on Sunday, May 16, the beginning of a full summer work schedule to continue the great progress made last summer on the Western Greenway trail building project. Trail work this year will take place on and around the Shady's Pond Conservation area in Waltham. The work involved will include both trail clearing and creation as well as some boardwalk and bridge construction depending on the particular day. If all goes according to plan, the trail will be complete from Trapelo Road down to the Paine Estate by the end of the summer.

The first work date will be May 16 and will be clearing brush and trail cutting. Subsequent work dates appear on the schedule below. We ask that you register for each day. Hours will be 8:30 - 3:30 all days with partial day participation welcomed. Lunch will be served on all days. Bring your own water bottle. We will offer unlimited refills. All tools and training will be provided. The meeting location for the May and June dates will be the rear of the Our Lady's parking lot, 857 Trapelo Road in Waltham. Meeting location for the July and August dates will be confirmed in future e-mails and an event update on the website for each of the work days. Work will proceed rain or shine.

Contact Cindy Hutchison at the Waltham Land Trust to register or with questions: 781-893-3355, info@walthamlandtrust.org.
